2K Games acquires WWE licence

Following the sad demise of THQ, it’s now been officially confirmed that 2K have entered into a deal with WWE to continue the long standing franchise and bring more wrestling games to our living rooms. The deal will initially be for five years and thankfully we’ll still be getting a WWE game this year. It’ll still be developed by Yuke’s,  however we’re hopeful that with a new publisher and a fresh set of eyes on the franchise that this years instalment will be on part with 2010, and even as good as No Mercy (which many consider to be the most rewarding WWE game).

While nothing has been revealed at this point in terms of what platforms the game will be released on, it’s safe to assume that 2K14 will make an appearance on Wii U, especially after the sterling effort 2K did on NBA 2K13 for Wii U.

I can’t say I’m happy about Yukes still being involved as the WWE games need a drastic change in my opinion but like you said hopefully with a new publisher it freshens things up.

Totally, how I wish AKI would be involved though!

Let’s get SUDA 51 to design another wrestling game. That’s what we need. More suicidal man grapplers.

I would love to see him make another wrestling game. Not if it holds him up on potentially making NMH3, mind.

Since he worked on the fire pro series back in the snes days that’s a belter of an idea BUT one thing about Yukes, the department that was responsible for UFC are free I’d say give those guys a go.
